PHL EMBASSY BEGINS THE CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH

The Philippine Embassy kick started its celebration of International Women’s Month by joining the Women Walk and Work for Peace (WWW4Peace) during their 2017 International Women’s Day Walk for Peace held on 8 March 2017.

Ms. Marama Fox, Member of Parliament and Co-leader of the Maori Party, and Dame Susan Devoy, New Zealand Race Relation Commissioner, were guest speakers during the event. Ms. Marama Fox highlighted the importance of women in the society, citing women whose influences were paramount to the successes she has experienced. Dame Susan Devoy likewise underscored the contributions of women, in particular women from the ethnic societies who face multitude of challenges in their daily lives.

Voices of Wellington rendered a moving performance of “I Can’t Keep Quiet” before Voice Arts took center stage and premiered the play “Take From My Palms” before hundreds of women from all over Wellington.
