The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand extended full support to the Philippine Men’s Floorball team during their participation in the Asia-Oceania Regional Qualifying Tournament for the Men’s Floorball Championships, held at Akau Tangi Sports Centre in Wellington from 13 to 19 January 2026.

The tournament brought together national teams from Japan, Thailand, Solomon Islands, Australia, Singapore, China, Philippines, Hong Kong (China), the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand.

The Philippine team successfully secured one of the four (4) qualification slots, advancing them to the World Floorball Championships which will be held in Tampere, Finland in December 2026.

The Embassy also welcomed the strong support of the Filipino community in New Zealand, whose presence underscored Filipino unity and sportsmanship during the tournament.

As part of its support, the Embassy hosted a meet-and-greet for the team at the Chancery on 14 January 2025, during which Consul General Christopher Patrick Aro had the opportunity to engage with the team members and officials.

After their last match during the Tournament Finals on 19 January, the Embassy commended the Philippine Men’s Floorball team for its successful participation in the games and for fostering national pride among the Filipinos in Wellington who watched their games. END
