Dialogo II: International conference on Philippine studies to be held in New Zealand in 2027
𝑊𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑡𝑜𝑛 – The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand, the Philippine Studies Network Aotearoa New Zealand(PSNANZ), and the Philippine Studies Hub - AUT - Auckland University of Technology proudly announce the launching of Dialogo II: International Conference on Philippine Studies.
Following the success of its inaugural run in Manila in 2024, this second iteration makes history as the first Dialogo conference held outside the Philippines.
Scheduled for February 18-19, 2027 at AUT City Campus in Auckland, New Zealand, the conference—with key support from the Office of Senator Loren Legarda and the Department of Foreign Affairs—aims to strengthen the global trajectory of Philippine Studies as an interdisciplinary field. Scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers will converge to examine critical issues surrounding the concept of the “global Filipino”, exploring how histories, migration, cultural practices, and transnational networks shape Filipino identities and experiences across borders.
The conference also commemorates 60 years of Philippines–New Zealand bilateral relations, providing a unique opportunity to foster dialogue between Filipino, Māori, and Pacific knowledge systems. By connecting indigenous and global perspectives, Dialogo II seeks to spark meaningful conversations about climate change, migration, democracy, and global interdependence, pressing challenges faced by Filipinos and global communities alike.
This landmark event invites all interested individuals to help advance Philippine Studies, celebrate shared cultural connections, and envision more just and sustainable futures.
