Wellington - Filipino students, young professionals and second-generation Kiwinoys and their families came together in Wellington on 18 September 2026 for a battle of wits on all things Filipino for the inaugural Patalasan sa Aotearoa: Pinoy Quiz Night.

Participants, forming a total of 9 teams, faced off to earn the most points by getting the correct answer to Easy, Average and Difficult questions on various aspects of Philippine history, culture, geography, language, food, music, and popular culture.

First place, second place and third place winners received NZ$500, NZ$300 and NZ$200 worth of gift cards, respectively, as prize money.

The lively game was held in Fiesta in the Capital, a Filipino-owned restaurant in Wellington, which offered a special Pinoy Quiz Night selection of favorite Filipino dishes.

The inaugural Pinoy Quiz Night in Wellington forms part of the Philippine Embassy’s program to provide a platform for second-generation Filipinos and Filipino youth to connect with each other and with their cultural roots in a fun and instructive setting.

More Pinoy Quiz Nights are planned in various parts of New Zealand in the coming months. -END
