As young Filipinos who have made New Zealand their second home excel in the sports they play, 18 year old Angelo Foronda Bonita has been chosen to be part of the Philippine Under 19 Rugby Team and attend the National u19s Training Camp in Laguna starting 4 December 2014 and the Asian Rugby u19s Championship in Manila on 10-13 December 2014. Currently studying at Saint Bernard’s College, Angelo plays Halfback which is number 9 in rugby.

Angelo visited the Philippine Embassy and called on Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez today as he prepares to leave for Manila before the end of this month. He is excitedly looking forward to his trip and training under the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) and thanked the Philippine Embassy Team for the prayers and support. Ambassador Benavidez conveyed best wishes for his success. “It is heartening to know that a young Filipino who developed the love and skill for the game in New Zealand considered as the Rugby Nation will be given the wonderful opportunity to be trained and play in his home country, the Philippines where rugby is fast becoming a favourite recognized popular sport and the Philippine national team called Philippine Volcanoes winning several international competitions,” she said.
