The Forum, held at the University of Auckland, discussed how to build stronger community connections for Filipinos in New Zealand and multidisciplinary perspectives on advancing Philippine Studies in the country. It is envisioned to be the first of many activities that aim to promote Philippine Studies as an important field of research and source of policy insights across New Zealand and in the region.

Ambassador Azucena commended the Network, initiated by a small group of Filipino academics in New Zealand, for their vision and hard work to promote the role of Philippine Studies as a catalyst for critical discussion on issues that help enrich New Zealand’s relations with the global community of nations.
